By coating a thin Al/Zn layer on the surface of plastic film, we will get high self-healing Al/Zn metallized film for capacitor use.

A prominent feature of metallized film is its self healing ability. That means, when breakdown happened somewhere , short-circuit current can melt and evaporate the metallized film around the faulty area,so that recover its insulation property. Thus significantly reducing the impact on the breakdown strength caused by conductive defects and weakness in paper or film, thereby enhancing the working field strength.

Generally the thickness of the metal layer is 5nm-50nm, but it can be 1nm-100nm internationally. In terms of heat resistance, 1nm-100um is preferred, while refer to electric properties, 5nm-50nm is more preferred.

Under the same evaporation conditions, the larger the coating thickness I' is , the smaller the square resistance (IC/a ) is, accordingly,the resistance R becomes smaller, the load current becomes larger, whereas a worse self-healing property will follow .

Al/Zn metallized film adopts heavy-edge evaporation, which greatly reduces the contact resistance between the spraying area and the cores of the film capacitors, thus improving the quality of the capacitor.
