At the beginning and end of the study, digital images were taken of the affected areas on the scalp. Each participant's hair was also washed, and any shed hairs were counted.

The researcher found that women who took an MPS experienced a significant amount of hair growth in the areas affected by hair loss. They also had less shedding.

A 2012 studyTrusted Source by the same researcher produced similar results. Participants perceived improvement in hair growth and quality after 90 and 180 days.

L-ARGININE:L-arginine is an amino acid naturally found in red meat, poultry, fish, and dairy. It is necessary for making proteins and is commonly used for circulation.

L-arginine is converted in the body into a chemical called nitric oxide. Nitric oxide causes blood vessels to open wider for improved blood flow. L-arginine also stimulates the release of growth hormone, insulin, and other substances in the body. It can be made in a lab and used in supplements.

People use L-arginine for chest pain and various blow flow issues, high blood pressure during pregnancy, and a serious disease in premature infants called necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). It's also used for many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these other uses.

L-LYSINE: Certain amino acids in protein-rich foods may help promote hair growth, and L-lysine is one example. ... An L-lysine deficiency can cause hair loss, but getting enough of this amino acid can prevent this issue and promote regular hair growth. People can take L-lysine supplements.
