Q. What quality control checks are needed to assess the tackiness of the tape?

Answer

These checks include the Rolling ball test and loop tack test etc.  In the rolling ball test, a steel ball with a standard weight and diameter is made to roll from the upper part of an inclined surface consisting of the sticky side of the tape. The tackiness is then determined by the distance travelled by ball on track. The shorter the distance, the greater the tack. Loop Tack test is a repeatable method and is quantitative in nature. Here a loop of adhesive tape is attached to the probe of a tensile tester machine and this loop is made to contact a horizontal surface for a shorter duration before the tool is pulled away. The values of bond’s tensile strength are then recorded in numbers and evaluated.
