The term stainless is a combination of two words stain + less. Stain means a mark a spot or a blemish. Therefore stainless steel derives its name from acquiring the quality of blemish-free metal that has no mark or stain. This quality is acquired by mixing chromium in the alloy. It resists corrosion and rust nearly 100%.
