About Reduction Gear Boxes

Reduction gear boxes are used to reduce the speed of the input & maintain or increase the output torque. They reduce the input speed to a slower output speed. The unit consists of a number of rotating gears affixed to a wheel work. The high-speed input from the wheel work is transmitted to the rotating gears, wherein the torque in increased resulting in reduced speed. For example, this unit is used to reduce input speed of a marine turbine to lower output speed i.e., of the ship’s propeller.

Reduction gear boxes are constructed of strong & high-quality metal which is resistant to corrosion, rust, moisture, & temperature. The two types are: single reduction gear & double reduction gear box. They are available in both vertical & horizontal orientation.
