Lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate is a new type of lithium-ion battery electrolyte additive which has wide electrochemical window and high conductivity at high and low temperature. It has excellent film forming property and has almost no corrosion on manganese and iron cathode materials so it can be used as a film forming additive for lithium-ion battery electrolyte to improve battery cycle life. In the current market the most commonly used lithium salt is Lithium hexafluorophosphate but its thermal stability is poor and easy to hydrolysis and its conductivity is low at low temperature. Therefore Lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate will be the best lithium salt to replace Lithium hexafluorophosphate in the future.
