Firstly water-cooled rollers, with main advantages of increased application temperature and relatively low procurement cost. The maximum recommended application temperature for these rollers is 1,180deg C and their service life is about two years. The alternatives are uncooled 'dry' furnace rollers, which usually can be used up to max. 1,150deg C only. Dry furnace rollers made of Centralloy(R) 60 HT R, however, can be constantly used at very high temperatures of up to 1,250deg C. Their purchase price is usually higher, but their service life can be more than twice to three times as long, depending on the furnace conditions. Especially here, and in a direct comparison of the operating costs, dry furnace rollers of S+C achieve a crucial economic advantage, as the heat losses in the furnace are greatly reduced.
