Shahi Litchi occupies very important commercial viability followed by China. Rests of the varieties either being local as well as a small quantity do not suit to commercial activities. Litchi is a unique type of fruit having an Ariel as its edible fleshy part. The size of the fruit is of plump type and the skin of the fruit is rough and uneven. The outer skin of the Litchi fruit is pinkish red and inside the edible pulp that is whitish and jelly like encloses a single glossy brown seed. The fleshy part is sweet and delicious. It contains Fructose Glucose Sucrose and Malic acid. In addition to this Litchi contains phosphorus which is not found in any other fruit in the world. The action of the phosphorus in the human body is to activate the Brain. The time of production of Litchi in India is of very short duration not more than a month in Muzaffarpur area.
