Lithium Heparin is coated to inhibit clotting. Heparin activates anti thrombins, thus blocking the coagulation cascade and producing a plasma sample. Lithium test should not be performed using Lithium Heparin tubes. Gently invert the tubes 5-8 times immediately after blood collection.
