In 1927, Eduard Hass Ill invented new peppermint candy and called it PEZ (after the German word for peppermint, PfeffErminZ). It was originally meant to freshen the breath of the upper classes and was sold in packet tins.

In the early 1960s, PEZ introduced dispensers that were appealing to children. The inimitable combination of tasty candy and fun dispenser was born and so began PEZs triumphal success around the world.

In 1962, the first licensing agreement with Walt Disney was signed. Placing heads of cultural icons on the candy dispensers added the final touch to the unique product of PEZ.
